Royal Parks Half Marathon

I'm fundraising for...

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for my Royal Parks Half Marathon! Over 10 million peoplein the UK live with arthritis, affecting their ability to work, studycare for family, move free from pain and live independently. But arthritis is still poorly understood and far too little is done. That’s why Arthritis UK funds life-changing research, supports those affected and campaigns for change. Arthritis UK won’t rest until everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose, with real hope of a cure in the future.

I'm running a half marathon for Arthritis UK

Saturday 28th Mar
Hi guys, my name is Will and I'm running a half marathon for Arthritis UK!!!

My partner, Evie, was diagnosed in her early teens with Juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Due to damage caused in her hips by arthritis and osteoporosis she had both of her hips replaced at 16.
This meant after years of struggling to live a normal teenage life she finally got the chance to live her best life after recovery. Sadly 5 years after the operation she started to develop pain in both of her knee joints, and after going through the same process of lots of hospital appointments, MRIs, steroid injections it was confirmed she had active inflammation again in her knee joints and degenerative changes.

Due to the pain and swelling caused by her arthritis it means Evie cannot live the life the way she wants to, everyday can be restrictive and painful but, she still does her absolute best to not let it stop her from doing some of the things she enjoys - one of those is dancing but, even that can lead to a weeks worth of swelling and pain, leaving her unable to walk properly. She started taking biologic injections which is a treatment funded by Arthritis UK and these have calmed down her active inflammation most of the time but, at 28 the damage that has already been caused by the arthritis in her knees means she can still struggle with day to day activities.

I'm taking part in the London Royal Park Half Marathon 11th October to raise money for Arthritis UK so they can create the pain free future that Evie and the 10 million people living with Arthritis deserve.

Any donations big or small will be hugely appreciated, and thank you so much in advance.
