Friday 29th May After years of missed diagnosis and bouncing around the healthcare system I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, which my mum also has, at the time there were days my wife had to help me out of the car and get around because the pain was so severe, just sitting still could be agonising, I was told I would never run, let alone run marathons and after a 22 year gap from my first London marathon this year I am back and have completed the London Marathon in April 26, I am now keen to run the Great North run for a cause close to my families hearts, to support those living with arthritis. Good luck Darren, they say the Great North run is one of the best 'run' experiences?! I admire what you're doing for this charity, but glad it's not me trying to run it!! Arthritis effects many people in different forms, I have OA.
